I agree.  We all moved here for peace and quiet.

Barlow...write for yourself. I did not move to AD for "peace and quiet". I moved to AD because living here is usually cheaper for me than living in SCV or SFV. I have since made a life here on Sierra Highway.

lots of faux ruralists with suburban attitude moved to AD so they could live a fantasy of what real rural living is: live and let live. these folks just want to live and boss their neighbors through the use of paramilitary predators.

  1. Suburban attitude? You are so wrong on that one. If I had a suburban attitude, I'd be living in some crappy apartment above a filthy pool where kids pee, and with people walking past my front window talking loud and obnoxiously, walking on the floor above me like a herd of Elephants. Suburbanites don't mind any of that one bit. They don't mind being crammed into a box next to a railroad track or freeway. I never lived that way and I never will. I have always had property, privacy and a courteous attitude. If there was EVER a time that I wanted to have a loud party with a DJ or band, I certainly would have let my neighbors know well in advance. I occasionally have film crews here and they film as late as midnight. I 100% ASK my neighbors for the ok.....I have put up with 20 somethings at 2 AM on a trampoline in the front yard, I have put up with just last October, a huge party where the guy next door was lighting off PROFESSIONAL Fireworks, with sparks falling into my trees and on the roof. Every weekend was a party...Every Sunday was clean up and tossing glass and aluminum bottles and cans into a metal trashcan at 7 am...Every Sunday was "Gentlemen Start your Engines", because the guy had about 8 cars and they all needed to be started and idled for 20 minutes each to keep the batteries charged. THAT is for the suburbs...Not here in this quiet peaceful town of working people who have to get up at 4AM to feed and then off to work at 6. Yep...he has a right to do what he wants on his property...within the law...But had I known there was a band and party, I would have found other sleeping arrangements….His right to party and make as much noise as he possibly can WILL NOT BE TOLERATED BY ME..."Rights" are ONLY rights when they do not cost you or me anything. When they don't infringe on mine.

  3. You and I have very different perspectives on suburban.....for me suburban is tract houses with sidewalks. Stores, gathering places, and other structures are driving distances from the houses.

You describe as suburban, what I see as urban.

You do not live in a real rural environment, you live in an suburban community with an ersatz rural patina.

rights are options that you defend or advance through up-to-lethal acts.

You actually have just one right, if you defend it.

    be well
